I am most creative outdoors when painting. Something
happens in the light for me. The medium I use most often is acrylic paint. I started painting in the 60's using oils. By the
80's I switched to acrylics. I advanced to watercolors after visiting France in 1998. I have since ventured between acrylics
and watercolors after relocating to Arizona.
I am mostly a self-taught artist. My second
grade teacher, Mrs. Murray insisted that,” I was an artist". Thank God for her vision. Mr. Voss in high
school (TUHS, Tempe Arizona) further inspired me. It was because of his teaching that I was awarded a Gold Key Achievement
Award from the state of Arizona, for painting,
I did take some classes while in College (1990's).
Since retiring I have been involved with the Tempe retirement center,” Tempe Artist Guild", "The Farm" and the "Scottsdale
Artist League". I can be seen in many areas of Arizona painting the great outdoors. I will be relocating to the White Mountains
where I will have my own studio and many opportunities to meet more painters and admirers of artists.
I
believe everyone is an artist, some with words others with writing or crafts. Sewing, cooking, woodworking and many other
mediums such as making a relationship or family work, all are art to me. In art there are no mistakes just opportunities
to improve on a personal view.
